Tours and winetasting

I will be extremely happy to show you my family wine cellar where you can buy our red wine or our Extra Virgin Olive Oil . I can even give you some suggestions about other wineries wine -tastings and guided visits to local cellars of this region.
You can reach most of the wineries easily driving your car but if you wish to have more comfort you can reserve a coach service. In most of these local wineries there is a person who speak English or other languages and conduct you around the property explaining about the wine.
Panzano in Chianti boasts the best Chianti Classico and best Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Here every year, the second or third week-end of September ( visit the page festivals and exhibitions)takes place Vino al Vino, a fantastic experience and wine tasting of the wines produced around this tiny village. The wine tasting is on the main square: Piazza Bucciarelli and many people and journalist come to take part to this exhibition.
Being a good friend of the owners of the splendid kept winery Le Fonti in Panzano in Chianti and knowing the good products of this azienda I hardly suggest you to meet them and taste their wine. They will show you their azienda and let you try their wine. Their best label is Fontissimo. www.fattorialefonti.it

Meeting point in Il Palagio o in B&B La Piazzetta at 10.00 a.m.

• Visit at a local winery, in an old estate, directed by a delicious young couple. The fine wines and olive oil, here produced avoiding the use of any chemical substances, were already described and appreciated in 1427, when mentioned on the Register of landed property of Florence. You will try them and surely confirm their good quality, admiring the owners’ great hospitality.
• Visit to a typical medieval village: Montefioralle, situated along the Black Rooster Road, which still maintains intact the original town structure with its ring-walls and narrow roads. You will be delighted by the spectacular view of this gracious and very picturesque jewel.
• 1 ò clock Lunch in a local Osteria near Greve in Chianti, where you will taste the real flavours that characterized the Medici Court, such as the marvellous "Ravioli in sugo di carne" or the particular "Pappardelle alla lepre", or even the special salami and other salted pork meat specialities of Greve. Everything will pleasantly be served by the owners, accompanied by the best local wines and one of the best courtesy you might find in the whole Chianti area.
• The tour will then continue visiting one of the most impressive villas, well known and appreciated both for its beauty and position. This villa, which dates back to the Renaissance period, is situated in the hilly charm of this landscape and is very well known also thanks to the many gala evenings that are here hosted. You will have the possibility of entering the splendid inner garden, dotted with box and lemon trees, as well as roses and cypresses. In order not to forget this enchanting tour, you will end the day tasting the famous wines of the villa's elegant cellars.

Castelling

• First visit to the symbol of the Chianti castles. Infact, it is closely linked with the Chianti and the Ricasoli Florentine family, who built the first castle here in order to make a real bulwark to fight off the enemies during the XIV century. Inside the imposing defensive walls, you will be surprised by the marvellous landscape that faces the south part of the palace, stretching from mount Amiata to Arbia and from Siena to the Volterrani mountains, and that creates a unity with the elegant refined well-kept garden below. The splendid cellars that keep the wine as much as delicate as this land, will host you for a little "tasting-moment".
• Another wine tasting waits for you inside the cellars of another famous castle, an imposing elegant building , possessed in XIII century by the Firidolfi family who fortified the manor-house so that it became one of the strongest Florentine fortress in the Chianti League fighting against Siena.
• Visit to a splendid castle-village that is always worth a visit for its harmonious shapes. It owes its importance to the Ricasoli family who came to live this castle during the XIII century. You will also surely be struck by the enchanting view that spreads beyond the ruins of the old medieval town walls.
• Let's then have a great local lunch in a delicious village: Volpaia, characterized by its thousand years old castle and its roads that go up and down continuously, pleasantly interwined with small nice squares. Wherever you go, streets will smell of must or olive oil, reminding you of the old genuine flavours. That's why it will be nicer to stop here for lunch and to enjoy the great cooking specialities of the local trattoria we've chosen for you.

If you decide to drive by yourself to reach these places it will be less comfortable but you will save money if you decide to reserve a coach service you will be more comfortable and do not worry for a glass of more wine!!!
